DRC and Stackup Downloads

Welcome to the Stackup and DRC page. Begin designing with the manufacturing process in mind! Download our "Design for Excellence" approved validated stack-ups and design rule checks (DRC).

Specifications

DRCs

  • Altium: ½oz - 4oz
  • Cadence DesignTrue DFM: Silkscreen, Soldermask, Inner Copper ½oz - 4oz, Outer Copper ½oz - 4oz
  • Mentor PADS: Valor DFM NPI
  • Excel: ½oz - 4oz

Stackups

  • Altium, Cadence, and Excel.
  • Rigid 2-8 Layers
  • Board thickness: 0.031in 0.062in, or 0.093in (8 layer only)
  • Outer copper: 1oz - 3oz
  • Selected permutations of inner copper: ½oz - 2oz

Stackup File Naming Conventions

Full File Name Example

  • Format: T<overall thickness>_C<copper weight/layer>_<platform>
  • T<overall thickness> options:
    • T31: 0.31in
    • T62: 0.62in
    • T93: 093in
  • C<copper weight/layer> examples:
    • C112211: 6 layer 1oz outer copper, 1oz copper inner layers 2 and 5, 2oz copper inner layers 3 and 4
    • C1_0.5_0.5_0.5_0.5_0.5_0.5_1: 8 Layer board with 1oz outer copper and ½oz inner copper
  •  <platform> options
    • A:  Altium
    • C: Cadence
    • If there is no platform designation then it is a excel file

"T62_C112211_A.stackup" is an Altium stackup  for with a 0.62 thickness,  6 layer board with the following copper weights:

  • Layer 1: 1oz
  • Layer 2: 1oz
  • Layer 3: 2oz
  • Layer 4: 2oz
  • Layer 5: 1oz
  • Layer 6: 1oz

Altium

DRC

  • File format: .rul
  • Download Instructions: Each DRC is zipped so download as normal and then uncompress to access the file
  • Altium only allows global setting of the copper weight. So for design with multiple copper weights import each DRC in turn and ignore errors for the layers that do not match the DRC copper weight. For example for a 2112 four layer board, firs import the 2oz DRC and check the layers 1 and 4 ignoring errors for layers 2 and 3. Then import the 1oz DRC and check layers 2 and 3 while ignoring errors for layers 1 and 4.

Cadence Allegro

DRC

  • File format: DesignTrue .tcfx
  • Download Instructions: Each DRC is zipped so download as normal and then uncompress to access the file
  • NOTE: External Copper weights are marked by unplated weight i.e External 1oz copper is called out EXT0.5, External; 2oz copper is called out as EXT1.0 etc.

  • File format: Valor NPI rules
  • Download Instructions: The DRC rules are zipped so download as normal and then uncompress to access the files.

Stackups

  • Due to Mentor PADS limitations external stackups are not supported. See the Hardcopy section for excel stackups.

  • Files format: xlsx
  • Includes all design rules for silkscreen, mask, and inner and outer copper weights ½oz - 4oz.
